Energy Auditor Mobile

Energy Auditor Mobile started with a problem I kept hitting on decarbonization projects. When sizing water-source heat pumps it is crucial to understand the concurrent thermal loads. Accurate calculations of these loads are dependent on accurate flow and temperature information and a problem I kept encountering was that flow metering on older sites was inaccurate or nonexistent – especially on hot water systems. I didn’t find the common method of multiplying pump speed by design GPM accurate enough for a quality analysis.

I developed a method to calculate actual flow from pump differential pressure and the pump curve, then built it into an app so I could get those numbers on site instead of back at my desk.

The app also includes a SketchPad for field notes and photos, customizable equipment data tables, and PDF export—tools that round out the site visit workflow. But the pump curve digitizer and flow calculation is what sets it apart. I built it because the calculation mattered too much to estimate loosely, and that’s the standard I hold for every project.
